I have decided to combine Day 4 and 5 together for this post.
Day 4 – Kyleakin – Stornoway – The Ferry Crossing
Another early start, and a rather damp and misty one.
Some really lovely scenary on the way to catch the ferry. The same journey as yesterday, from Kyleakin to Uig, but the misty weather made it feel like a scene from a great fantasy epic.
We got to the ferry terminal with plenty of time to spare for our sailing at 9:55am.
The sea was beautifully calm which made for a very pleasant crossing.
Leaving port with Uig in the background.
And we made it to Tarbert with beautiful sunshine.
We decided to explore Harris for a little but before heading up to Stornoway.
And then we finally made it to the house we would be staying in Stornoway.
Which I discovered was right opposite Lewis Castle!
Aftee settling in and good, decided to go out for a late night walk.
It did not get properly dark until 11, which was great for night time exploring, as you could still see. No shot of the moon though.
And that brings us to the end of Day 4.
Day 5 – First day on Stornoway
Woke up to a very blustery and wet day, with winds up to 50 miles an hour.
So we decided to scout out some beaches! But we decided better of it. We also tried to got to the Iolaire monument, but the winds definitely put us off. So after our quick trip the rest of the day has been spent planning the rest of the trip.
Day 6 tomorrow, hopefully a day of visiting archaeology sites!
